For the second consecutive time the Piedmont College baseball team came out on top of a one-run decision, today at the hands of visiting non-conference foe Guilford College by the score of 9-8 in 10 innings. Piedmont, who has yet to trail an inning this season, scored the game-winning run with no outs in the bottom of the tenth as

JARED MOON from second base for the walk-off victory.
The Quakers, who now stand at 1-2 overall, notched a pair of victories in walk-off fashion against PC a year ago. The Lions move to a perfect 2-0 on the young season and will face GC in the final game of the weekend series tomorrow, February 10th beginning at 2:00.
After retiring the Quakers in order in the top of the first the Lions put two runs on the board as Andrew Migitz and
MATT DEVITO drove in a run apiece. After a scoreless second inning Guilford tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the third.
In the home half of the fourth inning Piedmont exploded for six runs on five hits highlighted by a
TRAVIS HUNT two-RBI double and a Devito single driving in a pair of runs. The Quakers responded with three runs in the top of the fifth making the score 8-5.
PC went scoreless over the next five innings while Guilford rallied to eventually tie the game in the top of the ninth with two runs. The Lions could not find a run in the bottom of the ninth, sending the game into extra innings.

TYSON BAXTER took a hit by pitch and pinch runner
JARED MOON stole second with no outs. Nissley then came thru with an RBI-single giving the Lions the walk-off victory.
TOM DIMITROFF picked up the relief victory, his second of the year. Hunt paced the offense going 2-4 with a pair of RBI's and runs scored as well as a stolen bag. Nissley added a 2-4 performance with a pair of stolen bases, runs scored and the game-winning RBI.
JUSTIN VORHERR also chipped in with a pair of hits.
