Despite forcing a season-high 28 turnovers the Piedmont College men's basketball team could not overcome the local rival and host Oglethorpe University tonight and fell by the score of 77-60 in Atlanta, GA. Piedmont connected on 25-60 (42%) of its shots from the floor but went 4-19 (21%) from behind the arc en route to the loss.
Piedmont held the lead in the first four minutes of the first half after JAKE BALDWIN hit a pair of layups and JAKE GREEN connected on a tri-fecta. Oglethorpe responded with a 19-2 run over the next eight minutes to reclaim the lead for good. The Lions entered the break down 40-26.
In the second frame PC cut the lead to eight after back-to-back three pointers from WESLEY PARKER and Baldwin with 14 minutes remaining. A Baldwin layup with 6:53 remaining again cut the OU lead to eight, but the Stormy Petrels answered with a 12-0 run and extended their lead to as many as 20 down the stretch before the final buzzer sounded.
Oglethorpe, who stands at 14-6 overall and winners of six straight, shot a remarkable 25-58 (48%) from the floor and hit 7-18 (39%) of its three-point attempts. The Lions were outrebounded 48-25 and could not match the Stormy Petrels bench as the home team notched 43 points off substitutions.
The Lions placed three players in double figures led by Baldwin who posted a game high 21 points. Teh senior forward's 14th point of the game came via a three point shot and marked his 2,000th career point as a Piedmont College Lion.  SAMUEL COPPAGE recorded 16 points and a team high four steals while Parker added 11 points and a squad best four assists.
PC will look to rebound on Saturday, February 9th as they travel to Great South Athletic Conference member Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL with tip-off slated for 4:00 CST. The Lions will take with them an 11-10 overall record and a 1-2 mark in the GSAC.
