Baseball Team Rebounds With Extra Inning Victory Over Millsaps 7-4

Tom Dimitroff Threw Four And A Third Innings Of Scoreless Relief For 3rd Win Of The Year

Tom Dimitroff threw an impressive four and a third innings of scoreless relief for his third victory of the season in the Lions' 7-4 win at Millsaps.
By outhitting its opponent 14-6 the Piedmont College baseball team defeated host Millsaps College in Jackson, MS this afternoon by the score of 7-4 in 11 innings. Four Lions recorded at least a pair of hits as PC overcame the Majors who received votes in the latest D3Baseball.com national poll.

The victory moves the Lions to 7-2 overall and 1-1 on their current southern swing. Piedmont will square-off with MC again tomorrow, February 24th in the final game of the two-game series beginning at 1:00 CST.

Millsaps held its only lead of the game after a single run in the bottom of the first. The Lions tied the score at 1-1 in the fourth inning as COLE SPEDALE posted a two-out RBI-single. PC added to the lead with a single run in the fifth as ANDREW MIGETZ extended his nine game hitting streak with an RBI-single plating COREY LINDSEY from third.

For the third consecutive inning the Lions added to their lead with a pair of runs as Lindsey notched his second hit of the game plating JUSTIN VORHERR and Spedale. Millsaps got within one with a pair of runs in the sixth and later tied the game in the seventh. Both teams remained scoreless until the 11th inning.

With one out and no one on TRAVIS HUNT recorded his fourth hit of the game and moved to second a Migetz hit by pitch. Senior ANDY HOUSE then doubled of the centerfield fence plating both runners and giving the Lions a 6-4 advantage. With two outs Vorherr posted his third double of the game scoring House and giving PC the three-run lead. TOM DIMITROFF then sealed the victory with a scoreless 11th with three strikeouts.

Hunt led the offense going 4-5 with a walk while Nissley went 2-4 with two hit by pitches. Vorherr posted a 3-6 performance with three doubles while Lindsey chipped in going 2-5 with two RBI's and a run scored. SPENCER SHELTON picked up the no-decision going six innings allowing two earned runs while striking out five. Dimitroff's victory is the third of the season for the southpaw.
