In overwhelming fashion the Piedmont College women's basketball team extended its season-high winning streak to 11 games with a 101-29 road victory at Great South Athletic Conference member Wesleyan College tonight in Macon, GA. Piedmont held the Pioneers to a mere 13-62 (21%) from the floor en route to the one-sided win.
The Lady Lions, who never trailed, received scoring contributions from all 15 players on the squad. PC was dominant on both sides of the ball shooting 45-85 (52%) from the floor while forcing 20 turnovers. The women connected on 10 three-pointers and assisted 25 of the 45 baskets from the floor.
To start the game Piedmont went on an 18-0 run over the course of the first six minutes highlighted by SHEENA TRIMIAR knocking down eight points and a steal. The Lady Lions smallest lead of the game came at the 12 minute mark with the score 25-8. PC ended the half on an 11-0 run and took a commanding 53-17 lead into intermission.
In the second half the Lady Lions outscored the Pioneers 48-12 to seal the 101-29 victory. PC outscored WC by 36 points in each half en route to the 72-point win.
BRANDI SYFAN led all scorers with 20 points including a pair of tri-fectas while COURTNEY HALL also reached double figures with 10 points. Senior DANIELLE DUTCHER posted a game-high 13 rebounds while five different Lady Lions posted eight points.
The victory moves Piedmont to 21-3 overall and 11-0 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The women will return to the hardwood on Saturday, February 23rd as they travel to conference rival Maryville College on Maryville, TN beginning at 2:00.
