Baseball Team Remains Undefeated At Loudermilk Field With 10-9 Victory Over W &L

Five-Run Seventh Leads Lions Past Generals For Fourth One-Run Win Of The Season

Corey Lindsey notched three hits and the game-winning run in the Lions' 10-9 victory over Washington & Lee University this afternoon at Loudermilk Field.
For the fifth consecutive time this season, the Piedmont College baseball team came out on the winning end of a home contest, this afternoon at the hands of Washington & Lee University by the score of 10-9. The Lions trailed 9-5 in the seventh inning but rallied with five runs on five hits while stealing six bases to reclaim the lead for good.

The victory moves Piedmont to 6-1 overall including 4-0 in one-run games. The Lions will hit the road for three games this weekend starting Friday, February 22nd against Rhodes College in Memphis, TN beginning at 3:00 CST.

Washington & Lee struck first with single runs in the second and third inning before PC got on the board with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third knotting the game at 2-2. TRAVIS HUNT plated the first run with an sacrifice fly before ANDREW MIGETZ extended his hitting streak to seven games with an RBI-single.

After a single run in the top of the fourth JUSTIN VORHERR led off the home half with a solo homerun to rightfield. COLE SPEDALE scored on a COREY LINDSEY single and after a Generals error and three batters later Lindsey crossed the plate capping the three-run inning.

Washington & Lee refused to go away answering with four runs in the top of the fifth on a grandslam homerun. The Generals added a pair of runs in the top of the seventh making the score 9-5 before the Lions rallied in the bottom half.

After the first hitter was retired Spedale, JUSTIN OATES, Lindsey, and EVAN NISSLEY hit consecutive singles making the score 9-8. After a TRAVIS HUNT walk and a double steal, senior ANDY HOUSE connected with the eventual game-winning hit driving in two runs.

Senior TOM DIMITROFF came on and threw a scoreless eighth and ninth innings for his third save in less than a week. JOSH MCEACHIN picked up the relief victory, his first decision of the season. Lindsey had a perfect day from the plate going 3-3 with a walk, two RBI's, three runs scored, and an impressive five stolen bases.
