In the second game in as many days the Piedmont College women's basketball team fell this afternoon to USA-South Conference host Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA by the score of 68-42. The Lady Lions were held to a dismal 16-57 (28%) from the floor en route to the defeat.
After CNU jumped out with a 14-2 run to start the game Piedmont answered with a 21-10 stretch to cut the lead to one at 24-23. The Captains responded with eight of the last 11 points to take a 32-26 advantage into the locker room.
In the second frame the home team took command of the contest and led by as many as 28 down the stretch. For the game the Lady Lions committed 23 turnovers that led to 28 points. PC was outrebounded 53-32 which led to 19 second chance points for the Captains.
LISA JENNINGS posted a team best 10 points and a pair of steals and assists respectively. BETH ADCOCK chipped in with nine points and a game high three blocks.
The Lady Lions, who now stand at 1-6 overall, will look to bounce back on Saturday, December 13th as they travel to Mississippi College in Clinton, MS for a south region matchup.
