PC Advances To GSAC Championship Match

Meghann Clark led the offense with 11 kills in the Lady Lions' 3-1 victory over Huntingdon in semifinal action of the GSAC tournament in Montgomery, AL.

The Piedmont College volleyball team advanced to the Great South Athletic Conference tournament championship match with a 3-1 victory this afternoon over host Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. The victory is the third of the season against the Lady Hawks as PC will try to defend its conference championship from a year ago.

The Lady Lions took the first two sets 25-18 and 25-21 before the home team rallied with a 25-21 victory in the third. In the fourth and final set Piedmont controlled the net taking the 25-18 decision and sealing the trip to the finals.

MEGHANN CLARK led the offense with a team high 11 kills while KATIE TUCKER chipped in with eight. Tucker led her teammates with five total blocks while NIKKI COLE and HEATHER STAFFORD added four blocks apiece. Libero JENNIFER GRANLUND posted a team best 16 digs while KALIN DEMARRAIS added three service aces.

The victory moves the Lady Lions to 25-6 overall. The women will take on top-seeded Maryville College tomorrow, November 8th with first serve scheduled for 1:00 CST.
