After splitting the regular season series the Piedmont College women's soccer team fell to Spelman College in the semifinals of the Great South Athletic Conference tournament this afternoon in LaGrange, GA by the score of 1-0. The Lady Lions gave up the eventual game winning goal in the first half and could not find the equalizer.
The second-seeded Jaguars found the only goal of the match at the 20th minute and locked down PC's offensive attack. Despite connecting on three shots on goal in the first half the Lady Lions entered the half trailing by one goal. In the second frame PC recorded a pair of shots on goal but could not break the SC defense.
KATIE PORTER provided the best scoring chances for Piedmont with three shots on goal.
JUSTINE CLAY provided a pair of shots on goal while goalkeeper Katelyn Induni notched a pair of saves. The squad could only post a pair of corner kick scoring chances while the Jaguars notched seven.
The loss wraps up the 2008 season for the Lady Lions with an overall record of 13-6 marking an eight win improvement in head coach
