In the second home game of the season the Piedmont College women's basketball team fell to visiting in-state rival Emory University by the score of 74-60. The loss is the fourth consecutive for the Lady Lions who now stand at an even 1-1 in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center.
The visiting Eagles connected on the first nine points of the game and extended the margin to 29-6 with eight minutes remaining in the first half. The Lady Lions responded with a 13-6 run to cut into the lead and entered the locker room trailing by 21 points.
PC opened the second frame with a 15-7 run to cut the lead to 13 points as the women hit three tri-fectas. The Eagles took command of the final eight minutes of action extending the lead to as many as 27 points.
Freshman SHANICE WHEELER led all scorers with a game high 14 points while LISA JENNINGS and LAURA SIMMONS also reached double figures with 13 and 10 points respectively. The Lady Lions connected on 17-46 (37%) shots from the floor including 21 points from the bench.
Piedmont, who now stands at 1-4 overall, will return to action again on Thursday, December 4th as they travel to Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach, VA scheduled to begin at 7:00.
