J.C. Herebia posted a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds in the Lions' 66-64 loss to Greensboro this afternoon at the Texas Steakhouse Classic in Danville, VA.

The Piedmont College men's basketball team fell this afternoon 66-64 to Greensboro College on the final day of the Texas Steakhouse Classic at Averett University in Danville, VA. The Lions led by six with just over 6:00 remaining but went ice cold down the stretch and fell short in the one-possession game.

Piedmont jumped out to an early 10-5 lead on a layup by DANIEL LAMPL just five minutes into the game but GC would respond to take their largest lead of the half 37-30 at intermission.

The Pride would stretch its lead to 10 (40-30) at the beginning of the second half matching the largest lead of the game.  Piedmont responded with a 20-4 run over the next nine minutes to take a 50-44 lead on a pair of free throws by freshman JUSTIN RUSH

A MICHAEL RUBIO three-pointer with 6:32 remaining gave the Lions another six-point advantage but from there the Lion offense went ice cold.  In the game's final six minutes the team was 1-9 from the floor with six turnovers.

On the night, PC limited Greensboro to only 41% from the field, but the Lions' offense could only score at a rate of 36%.  PC also missed an opportunity missing eight free throws on the night (13-21) including two misses in the game's final three minutes.

Piedmont's J.C. HEREBIA posted his first double-double of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds.  Sam Coppage posted 13 points including 9-10 from the free throw line while Rush capped off a solid weekend with 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists.

For his efforts, Coppage was voted to the Texas Steakhouse Classic All-Tournament team.

Piedmont will continue its tough season-opening schedule which includes nine of their first 11 games on the road, on Saturday, November 29 when the Lions square off against their third straight USA-South foe at Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC.  Tip-off is set for 2:00 in MU's Riddle Center.
