On the second and final day of the Emory & Henry College Tip-Off Classic the Piedmont College women's basketball team fell to Methodist University this afternoon by the score of 72-46 in Emory, VA. The Lady Lions slide to 1-3 on the year and drop three consecutive games for the first time since the 2002-2003 season.
PC kept the action close to start the first half knotting the score of four seperate occasions. The Lady Monarchs pulled away near intermission and entered the half with a commanding 41-22 advantage. In the second frame the Lady Lions rallied but could not overcome the deficit and dropped the 26-point decision.
LISA JENNINGS led the way with a team best 15 points while freshman
LINDSEY WILEY posted a career high nine points.
MANDY BEASLEY was impressive on the boards posting nine rebounds, three of which were on the offensive end.
MU shot an impressive 52% from the floor than included 5-9 (56%) from behind the tri-fecta. The Lady Monarchs also went 11-13 (85%) from the charity stripe en route to victory. Piedmont posted season lows in field goal percentage (29%) and free-throw percentage (61%).
The women will return to the court again on Tuesday, November 25th as they play host to in-state rival Emory University with tip-off slated for 6:00 in PC's Johnny Mize Athletic Center.
