Second-Ranked Oglethorpe Hands Lady Lions First Defeat 91-67

Lisa Jennings posted five streals in the Lady Lions' 91-67 loss at second-ranked Oglethorpe University tonight in Atlanta, GA.

In the first road game of the 2008-2009 campaign second-ranked Oglethorpe University handed the Piedmont College women's basketball team its first loss this evening by the score of 91-67 in Atlanta, GA. The Lady Lions could not crack the home teams defense and finished the game hitting only 20-64 (31%) shots from the floor.

MANDY BEASLEY hit the first basket of the game before the Stormy Petrels went on a 16-4 run to take the final lead change of the night. PC trailed by as many as 18 in the first half before cutting the deficit with 15-5 run highlighted by 8-9 shooting from the charity stripe.

With only three minutes remaining OU notched the final seven points of the half and went into the locker room with the 47-33 advantage. The Lady Lions would trail by as many as 30 in the second frame and when the final buzzer sounded the home team walked away with the 91-67 decision.

MANDY BEASLEY posted her first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds while LAURA SIMMONS narrowly missed the mark with nine points and 11 rebounds. Also reaching double figures were AMBER SATTERFIELD and BETH ADCOCK who posted 12 and 10 points apiece while LISA JENNINGS chipped in with a team best five steals.

The loss moves Piedmont to 1-1 overall. The women will look to rebound on Friday, November 21st as they travel to Emory, VA for the Emory and Henry College Tip-Off where they will face Greensboro College at 8:00.
