Netters Pick Up Two Wins, Defeat LaGrange and Emory & Henry 3-0, 3-2

Setter Tyler Baldonado, the reigning GSAC Player of the Week, posted a season best 49 assists in the Lady Lions' five-set victory over Emory & Henry this afternoon in LaGrange, GA.

The Piedmont College volleyball team improved its current winning streak to six matches with a pair of victories this afternoon in LaGrange, GA. The Lady Lions defeated homestanding Great South Athletic Conference member LaGrange College 3-0, the team's fifth consecutive shutout, before edging Emory & Henry College in five sets.

The victories moves PC to 17-4 overall and a perfect 5-0 in the GSAC. The Lady Lions will travel to Montgomery, AL to take on conference foe Huntingdon College tomorrow, October 5th slated to start at 1:00 CST.

Against LaGrange the volleyball team controlled the match winning in straight sets 25-18, 25-22 and 25-20. Senior MEGHANN CLARK led the way with nine kills while KATIE TUCKER chipped in with seven. Senior ASHLEY CHIMA led the team with a pair of serving aces while TYLER BALDONADO added 35 assists.

On the defensive side JENNIFER GRANLUND reached double figures for 13th time this season with a team best 15 digs. Baldonado and ERIN KRAUSE added nine and seven digs respectively.

In the first five set match of the season the Lady Lions held off Emory & Henry College winning the fifth and deciding set 15-10. KALIN DEMARRAIS led four players in double figures with 14 kills followed closely by NIKKI COLE and KATIE TUCKER who posted 13 apiece.

In addition to her 11 kills, senior MEGHANN CLARK added a Piedmont season high 23 digs. Granlund and DeMarrais posted 19 and 14 each while HEATHER STAFFORD added a career best six total blocks. Setter Baldonado also posted a season best 49 assists in the hard fought victory.
