For the second consecutive match the Piedmont College women's soccer team picked up a victory in the Great South Athletic Conference, tonight over host Wesleyan College 5-2 in Macon, GA. The Lady Lions used three first half goals including the eventual game winner to pick up their sixth win of the year.
KATIE PORTER opened the scoring just eight minutes into regulation beating the keeper off a pass from
JUSTINE CLAY.
TERESA MAYE picked up her fourth goal of the season seven minutes later with Clay picking up her second assist.
The Pioneers responded with a goal at the 30th minute to pull within one, but their hopes were quickly dashed as Porter notched the eventual game winner just five minutes later. The teams remained scoreless for the final 10 minutes and PC entered the half with the 3-1 advantage.
In the second frame
CAITLIN HURD posted an insurance goal with the assist being credited to Porter.
MACY MACLEAN capped the Lady Lions' scoring with an unassisted goal at the 66th minute. Wesleyan pulled within three goals with the final goal of the match at the 81st minute.
Piedmont dominated offensively outshooting the home team 21-4 and posting eight corner kicks. The Lady Lions, who now stand at 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the Great South, will return to the field again on Thursday, October 9th as they travel to Decatur, GA to take on conference member Agnes Scott College starting at 4:30.
