For the second time this season the Piedmont College men's soccer team fell to Great South Athletic Conference member Maryville College this afternoon in Maryville, TN by the score of 4-0. The loss marks the third shutout defeat of the season for the Lions who move to 3-2 in the GSAC.
The homestanding Scots jumped out with the eventual game winning goal at the 14th minute. A mere two minutes later MC posted its second goal for the 2-0 advantage that would remain until halftime. Despite trailing the Lions held the edge in shots for the first half at 8-6.
In the second frame the Lions allowed a pair of insurance goals at the 52nd and 61st minutes respectively to drop the four-goal decision.
JORGE PRADILLA led the team with three shots on goal while
NICK WEATHERBY and
JEREMY STILLE added a pair respectively.
Between the posts freshman
BRIAN GAID recorded five saves including three in the second half.
Piedmont, who now stands at 8-7 overall, will look to snap the two-match skid on Tuesday, October 21st as they travel to LaGrange, GA to take on conference host LaGrange College at 7:30.
