Six Different Lady Lions Post Goals In 8-1 Victory Over Huntingdon

Freshman Teresa Maye picked up the first game winner of her career in the Lady Lions' 8-1 victory over Huntingdon.
Behind an onslought of goals the Piedmont College women's soccer team defeated visiting Great South Athletic Conference member Huntingdon College this afternoon at Walker Field by the score of 8-1. Six different Lady Lions found the back of the net en route to the victory.

PC, who now stands at 8-4 overall and 6-2 in the Great South, will return to the pitch again on Tuesday, October 14th as they travel to Spelman College in Atlanta, GA with kick off scheduled for 4:00.

KATIE PORTER opened the scoring at the second minute beating the keeper top right with the assist going to TERESA MAYE. Just two minutes later Maye connected on a loose ball inside the six for PC's second goal and eventual game winner. At the 13th minute CAITLIN HURD hit a shot from the top of the eighteen for an unassisted goal to add to the lead.

CASEY LOVELADY tallied her first two goals of the season at the 21st and 29th minute with Porter picking up both assists. The Lady Lions wrapped up the scoring six minutes later as SARA LINDSLEY used a MELISSA HOFFMAN pass for the sixth goal of the half.

Porter added her second goal of the match just one minute into the second frame with the assist going to JUSTINE CLAY. Clay added the final goal for Piedmont two minutes later unassisted. The Lady Hawks scored their only goal of the match at the 51st minue but could get no close and dropped the seven-goal decision.

The Lady Lions extend their current winning streak to five games. The game winning goal from TERESA MAYE marked the first of her career while KATIE PORTER extends her scoring streak to five consecutive matches.
