After dropping its first Great South Athletic Conference match of the season last night the Piedmont College volleyball team rebounded to defeat conference host Spelman College 3-0 this afternoon in Atlanta, GA. The Lady Lions dominated the match holding their opponents to a mere 29 points in the shutout victory.
The tandem of
NIKKI COLE and
MEGHANN CLARK led the offense posting eight kills apiece while
KATIE TUCKER chipped in with five. Setter
TYLER BALDONADO posted a match high 24 assists while Clark added a team best four serving aces.
Tucker and Cole led the defensive effort as well with six and five total blocks respectively. The Lady Lions notched 11 solo blocks, a new season high. Libero
JENNIFER GRANLUND recorded a match high 12 digs, the 16th time she has reached double figures this year.
Today's match marked the 15th straight set victory of the season for the netters. Piedmont also has taken 22 of 25 sets in GSAC action and now stands at 13-4 in matches either on the road or at a neutral site.
Piedmont moves to 20-5 overall and 7-1 in the conference play. The Lady Lions will return to the floor again on Saturday, October 25th as they travel to Maryville, TN to take on conference foe Maryville College beginning at 2:00.
