Despite a furious comeback by Great South Athletic Conference host LaGrange College this afternoon the Piedmont College women's basketball team remained perfect in conference play and extended its winning streak to four games with an 85-69 victory.
SHEENA TRIMIAR highlighted the afternoon with career highs of 31 points and 14 steals with the latter earning a spot among the NCAA Division-III records book leaders. Her 14 steals currently ranks in a tie for 11th on the NCAA Division-III single game steals mark.
On the afternoon, the Lady Lions forced 34 turnovers and shot a remarkable 54% from the floor to fend off the late-charging Panthers.
PC, who never trailed for the duratuion of the game, controlled the first half and took a comfortable 38-30 lead into intermission. With only a little more than five minutes remaining in the second frame the Lady Lions clung to a 62-55 lead before LaGrange was able to go on a 7-0 run over the next two minutes to knot the score at 62.
Piedmont then forced three turnovers and turned them into seven unanswered points to reclaim the lead for good. The Lady Lions ended regulation on an 11-2 run to seal the 16-point victory.
PC used the 34 turnovers to generate 41 points and shot an impressive 28-36 from the charity stripe. Despite being outrebounded by 25 (44-19) the Lady Lions' defense held the Panthers to only 5-19 (24%) from behind the tri-fecta.

MANDY BEASLEY also reached double figures with 16 and 13 points respectively.
The victory keeps PC atop the GSAC at 4-0 and 14-3 overall on the season. The Lady Lions will return to action again on Tuesday, January 29th as they host Wesleyan College beginning at 6:00 in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center.
