Women's Soccer Team Earns First Victory Of Season

Sophmore Katie Porter tallies five goals against GSAC member Wesleyan College.

In the home-opener of the 2007 season the Piedmont College women's soccer team used goals from four different players to storm past visiting Great South Athletic Conference opponent Wesleyan College by the score of 9-0. The Lady Lions were impressive offensively keeping the ball in the opponent's territory for the majority of the game and notching nine goals of the 23 shots on goal they produced.

The victory marks the first of the season for PC as the women move to 1-1 overall. The Lady Lions will return to action again on Wednesday, September 12th as they host GSAC opponent Spelman College at Walker Field beginning at 6:00.

KATIE PORTER got things going in the first half with three consecutive goals including the eventual game-winner. Anna Darvish tacked on a pair of goals while ERIN PIPPIN recorded her first goal as a Lady Lion to finish off the first half and give Piedmont a 6-0 halftime advantage.

In the second half Porter again showed dominance with a pair of goals while LAUREN DODD notched her first collegeiate goal with only minutes remaining in regulation. Pippin and Missy Hoffman chipped in with a pair of assists while Dodd, Hurd, Darvish and JENNIFER OSBORNE all added a single assist apiece.
