For the first time this season the Piedmont College volleyball team dropped a Great South Athletic Confernce match at the hands of visiting Maryville College by the score of 3-1 in PC's Johnny Mize Athletic Center. The Lions rallied to win the first game 30-26 but fell short in the final three games dropping them 30-17, 30-18, and 30-22.
The loss drops PC to 11-5 overall and 2-1 in the Great South. The women will return to the court with short rest tomorrow, September 29th as they travel to GSAC members Agnes Scott College and Spelman College in Atlanta, GA starting at 12:00 and 5:00 respectively.
KALIN DEMARRAIS led the offense with 14 kills while
KATIE TUCKER chipped in with six kills.
SARAH LANE and
NIKKI COLE also combined for 10 total kills.
TYLER BALDONADO notched 27 assists while
JENNIFER GRANLUND added a team-high three service aces.
Defensively libero
JILL SPARGER led the squad with 20 assists while DeMarrais also reached double-figures with 10 digs. Leading the defense at the net was Cole and Tucker who combined for eight total blocks.
