It was a tough day for the Piedmont College volleyball team in the Emory University Invitational as the women dropped a pair of matches to Heidelberg College and Washington & Lee University 3-0 each. The Lions dropped the morning opener to HC by the scores of 11-30, 15-30 and 15-30 and fell to W&L 28-30, 22-30 and 23-30.
In the day's opener the PC offense was shut down by Heidelberg with PC only able to reach 15 points in one of the three games.
JENNIFER GRANLUND made her debut at setter recording eight assists in her first match.
After narrowly dropping the first game against Washington & Lee, Piedmont could not eclipse the 23 point total and dropped the match 3-0.
SARAH LANE led the offense with seven kills while
NIKKI COLE and
ASHLEY CHIMA chipped in with six kills apiece.
TYLER BALDONADO notched 21 assists while
JILL SPARGER contributed defensively with a team-high 12 digs.
PC now drops to 10-4 overall. Piedmont will return to action again on Wednesday, September 26th as they host Oglethorpe University in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center beginning at 7:00.
