After putting together an impressive seven-match winning streak, the Piedmont College volleyball team dropped the first match of the Emory University Invitational to the host Eagles, currently ranked #4 nationally. Piedmont could not overcome the Eagles' attacking and dropped the match by the scores of 26-30, 23-30 and 22-30.
The loss drops PC to 10-2 overall. The women will continue competition in Atlanta, GA tomorrow, September 22nd with a pair of matches against Heidelberg College and Washington & Lee University with the first slated to begin at 11:30.
Despite the loss it was a career night for senior
SARAH LANE who led the team with seven kills which was good for a 400% hitting total.
NIKKI COLE chipped in with seven kills of her own while
KALIN DEMARRAIS recorded a team-high five service aces to go along with six kills.
TYLER BALDONADO tallied 20 assists while libero
JILL SPARGER led the squad with nine digs. Sparger and fellow teammate
HEATHER STAFFORD were able to connect on a pair of service aces apiece.
