Netters Split Matches On Final Day Of Oglethorpe Tournament

PC Handles Mississippi, Falls To Lynchburg

Katie Tucker was voted to the Oglethorpe University All-Tournament team after leading the team to three opening weekend victories.

After winning a pair of matches yesterday at the Oglethorpe University Tournament the Piedmont College volleyball team split a pair of decisions in the tournament's final day of action this afternoon in Atlanta, GA. Piedmont found no problem defeating Mississippi College in three games but dropped their first match of the season 3-1 at the hands of Lynchburg College.

The volleyball team now stands at 3-1 overall and will return to action again on Friday, September 7th in the Greensboro (NC) College Alumni Tournament where they will face Meredith College and host Greensboro College.

PC was able to hand the Lady Choctaws their second loss of the young season by the scores of 30-20, 30-19 and 30-26. The Lions controlled the entire game offensively paced by KALIN DEMARRAIS who notched a team-high nine kills. TYLER BALDONADO continued her impressive play with 23 assists while JILL SPARGER and DeMarrais combined for 17 digs.

In the fourth and final match of the round-robin tournament the undefeated Hornets handed PC their first loss of the season in four games 25-30, 31-29, 22-30 and 22-30. Sparger again made her presence felt with team-highs in both digs (19) and service aces (4). NIKKI COLE led the offense with 10 kills, the only Lady Lions to reach double figures.

For her efforts, Piedmont's KATIE TUCKER was voted to the All-Tournament team.
