It was a tough day for the Piedmont College women's soccer team as the squad was defeated by Great South Athletic Conference host Maryville College in Maryville, TN by the score of 12-1. The Lady Scots controlled the game from the kick off and finished regulation with 25 shots on goal compared to PC's three.
Maryville scored their first goal at the sixth minute and found the back of the net for the eventual game-winner only 39 seconds later. Piedmont allowed five more goals before the end of the first half and entered intermission down 7-0. The lone bright spot for Piedmont came at the 61st minute as freshman
LAUREN DODD scored the Lady Lions' only goal of the match on an assist from
ERIN PIPPIN, her team-leading fifth of the season.
Dodd notched a pair of shots on goal while Pippin provided the only other scoring chance for PC with a single shot on goal.
The loss drops PC to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The women will return to the friendly confines of Walker Field on Thursday, September 20th as they host conference foe LaGrange College starting at 5:30.
