Despite being outshot 11-4 the Lady Lions were able to deposit a pair of shots into the back of the net to defeat Spelman College tonight at Walker Field. The visiting Great South Athletic Conference foe had ample opportunites to score but goalkeeper KAITLYN INDUNI was up to the challenge and posted her second shutout of the year.

The victory moves PC to 2-1 overall and a perfect 2-0 in GSAC competition. The women will bounce back on short rest tomorrow, September 13th, as they host visiting South Region foe Oglethorpe University at Walker Field under the lights beginning at 5:30.

All the scoring came in the first half as the Lady Lions were able to penetrate the Jaguar defense on two occasions. The first goal and eventual game-winner came off the foot of KATIE PORTER on a tremendous through ball over the Spelman defense from ERIN PIPPIN at the 10th minute. Pippin notched her second assist of the night just 16 minutes later as she sent a corner kick to the back post where MACY MACLEAN finished the insurance goal, her second of the season.

Induni was a rock between the posts as the freshman saved all 11 shots on goal sent from the SC offense. MacLean and fellow defender CASEY LOVELADY were impressive on the defensive end as well assisting Induni in keeping the hard-charging Jaguars off the scoreboard.
