Maryville Snaps Women's Basketball Team's Six-Game Winning Streak

The Piedmont College women's basketball team had its six-game winning streak snapped this afternoon with a 66-50 Great South Athletic Conference loss at Maryville College. The loss drops Piedmont to 15-7 overall and 9-2 in conference play.

Maryville went on 16-5 run after the Lady Lions held their only lead of the game with the first bucket of the game. The Lady Lions connected on only 7-28 shots from the field in the first half, including 1-9 from behind the tri-fecta. With 11 minutes to go in the second-half PC cut the lead to 38-36 but could get no closer as MC finished the game on a 28-14 run to seal the victory and the regular-season conference championship.

Yetta Bailey led three Lady Lions in double-figures with 15 points while Beth Adcock and Sarah Lane added 13 and 10 points respectively. Nikki Sosebee narrowly missed a double double with eight points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Lady Lions will return to the hardwood again on Wednesday, February 14th as they finish the regular season at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA beginning at 6:00.
