Men's Basketball Team Rebounds To Defeat Toccoa Falls College 80-47

PC Moves To 5-3 Overall With Decisive Victory

After a tough overtime loss on Wednesday, the Piedmont College men's basketball team rebounded tonight with a dominating 80-47 road victory over local rival Toccoa Falls College. The Lions defense was impressive forcing 22 turnovers and 19 steals while holding its opponent to a mere 17-73 (23%) from the floor.

PC jumped out with a 17-5 run in the first eight minutes. The Lions extended its lead to as many as 15 before entering the half with a comfortable 35-23 advantage.

The Lions then went on an 18-3 run in the first seven minutes of the second frame. Toccoa got within 16 points with just over 10 minutes remaining but PC secured the game with 14-8 run in the final five minutes. The second half was dominated by Piedmont's defense as the men forced 15 turnovers and 13 steals to seal the victory.

The Lions limited the Eagles to a mere 4-29 (14%) from behind the three-point line while connecting on 5-15 (33%). Piedmont recorded baskets from nine different players and posted assists on 17 baskets.

JAKE BALDWIN led the Lions with a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds, both game highs. WESLEY PARKER and JAKE GREEN were impressive on both ends of the floor as Parker notched 10 points and nine rebounds while Green added 10 assists and seven steals.

MICHAEL RUBIO chipped in with 11 points while BRANDEN MAYWEATHER added nine points including 3-5 from behind the tri-fecta. SAMUEL COPPAGE and PHILLIP SLOAN added seven points apiece.

The victory moves Piedmont to 5-3 overall. The Lions will hit the road on Monday, December 10th as they travel to Rust College in Holly Springs, MS beginning at 5:30 CST.
