With points hard to come by on both sides the Piedmont College women's basketball team was able to limit visiting Brenau University to a mere 13 second half points and earn the 60-44 victory this afternoon in non-conference action at PC's Johnny Mize Athletic Center. Behind a staunch defense that limited the Tigers to a slim 5-24 (21%) from the field in the second half the Lady Lions were able to widen the lead and finish with the 16-point victory.
After PC tied the game in the first half at 5-5 Brenau went on a 6-0 run over the next three minutes to take their largest lead of the first half. The Lady Lions got within one point at the 4:00 minute mark but the Tigers finished with a three-pointer with less than a minute remaining to enter the half leading 31-28.
After BU scored the first basket of the second half PC went on a 6-0 run to take the lead for good at the 17:00 mark. With Piedmont leading by one point at the 10:00 mark the Lady Lions went on a 10-0 run and took a commanding 51-40 lead.
After a seven minute stretch that featured only six points from both sides PC finished the final two minutes on a 7-2 run to secure the 16-point victory.

SHEENA TRIMIAR continued her impressive play leading three Lady Lions in double figures with 13 points and a team-high three steals.
NIKKI SOSEBEE added 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds while newcomer
LAURA SIMMONS added a career-high 10 points in her first start of the season.
The victory moves Piedmont to 6-2 overall. The Lady Lions will wrap up the four-game homestand on Wednesday, December 5th in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center against Sewanee-University of the South at 5:00. Wednesday game will feature PC's Toys For Tots drive with gifts being collected at the front of the gym throughout the duration of the games.
