Lady Lions Fall In Turkey Shootout Opener To Methodist 59-54

PC Moves To 3-1 Overall With First Loss Of The Year

Kayla Duncan notched six points and a team-high eight rebounds in tonight's game against Methodist University.

In the opening game of the Methodist University Cross Creek/Innkeeper Turkey Shootout the host Monarchs defeated Piedmont by the score of 59-54. The Lady Lions were able to connect on 23-58 (39.7%) shots from the field but Methodist shot 25-53 (47.2%) from the floor and outrebounded the Lady Lions 41-31.

PC got off to a quick start hitting the game's first bucket and then building a 6-0 lead. The Monarchs rallied and led by as many as seven in the first clip and took a 32-28 lead into intermission. In the second half the Lady Lions tried to rally early but the Monarchs led by 13 with nine minutes to go.

Down the stretch PC cut the lead to three with 51 seconds remaining but after an MU layup the Lady Lions allowed a turnover and a blocked shot to drop the five-point decision.

PC's bench was impressive tonight outscoring their opponents 29-14. Senior SARAH LANE led PC with 13 points while SHEENA TRIMIAR  also reached double figures with 10 points and a team high four steals. KAYLA DUNCAN was Piedmont's top rebounder with eight while MANDY BEASLEY chipped-in with eight points.

The women now stand at 3-1 overall and will continue action tomorrow, November 25th as they will take on Ferrum College in the final game of the Turkey Shootout beginning at 2:00.
