Piedmont Drops Opening Game In BSC Black-Tie Classic To Sewanee 71-47

Lions Fall For The First Time This Season, Now Stand At 2-1 Overall

Jake Baldwin led the team with 18 points tonight against Sewanee-University of the South in Birmingham, AL.

In the opening game of the Birmingham Southern College Black-Tie Classic the Piedmont College men's basketball team fell to Sewanee-University of the South by the score of 71-47 for its first loss of the season. The Lions led 31-26 at halftime but could not contain the red-hot Tigers who shot an impressive 60% in the second half to seal the 24-point victory.

The first half featured eight lead changes with Piedmont taking the lead with a 19-10 run to conclude the first session with a five-point advantage at 31-26. PC shot an impressive 12-28 (43%) from the field including 3-8 (38%) from behing the three-point line.

The Lions saw its lead fall to 39-38 at the 14:00 mark before the Tigers finished the game on a 33-8 run to complete the comeback. Sewanee was able to contain the Lions in the second half to a mere 6-28 (21%) from the field while the Tigers shot a remarkable 15-25 (60%).

Senior JAKE BALDWIN led a pair of Lions in double-figures with a team-high 18 points. MICHAEL RUBIO added 10 points including 2-4 from behind the tri-fecta while JAKE GREEN added five points and five assists.

PC now stands at 2-1 overall and will conclude action at the BSC Black Tie Classic tomorrow, November 25th against tournament host Birmingham Southern College at 2:00 CST.
