The Piedmont College men's basketball team moved to a perfect 2-0 this evening in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center with a 111-101 victory over USA-South Athletic Conference opponent Ferrum College. After leading by four at intermission, the Lions erupted for 62 second half points to seal the non-conference victory.
Ferrum used a second half basket with 11:56 remaining to take their last lead of the game at 69-68. The host Lions responded with a 16-5 run over the next 3:00 to take a 10-point lead (84-74) that would never be threatened.
Fresh off a 42-point game just two days ago, senior JAKE BALDWIN again led all scorers with games high of 35 points and 10 rebounds. Newcomer SAMUEL COPPAGE made his prescence felt with 30 points off the bench including a perfect 12-12 from the charity stripe to seal the victory down the road.
Also reaching double figures were point guard JAKE GREEN who narrowly missed a double-double with 20 points and a game high nine assists. WESLEY PARKER and MICHAEL RUBIO also chipped in with 12 points respectively.
The Lions now stand at 2-0 overall and will return to action again on Saturday, November 24th as they travel to the Birmingham Southern College Black Tie Classic to take on Sewanee-University of the South at 4:00 CST.
