Men's Soccer Team Eliminated From GSAC Championship On Penalty Kicks

Huntingdon Advances To Conference Championship Match

Bryan Prevatte played tough defense helping taking tonight's GSAC seminfinal match versus Huntingdon into a penalty kick shootout.
In an extremely hard fought match the Piedmont College men's soccer team was eliminated from the 2007 Great South Athletic Conference Tournament by the Hawks of Huntingdon College who overcame PC in the penalty kick shootout. The Lions finish the 2007 campaign with an overall record of 11-4-1.

Piedmont struck first in the 35th minute as Jacob Brown beat the keeper after a tremendous pass from Jeremy Stille. Huntingdon responded four minutes later as the Hawks bent a corner kick into the back of the net. The teams went into intermission knotted at one goal apiece.

The Hawks struck first in the second half with a goal at the 47th minute to take a 2-1 lead. HC held the lead for 37 minutes until Brown struck again with an unassisted equalizer goal to send the game into overtime. Both teams traded shots on goal in both overtimes but the game went into penalty kicks.

Jorge Pradilla took the first PK and deposited a shot past the keeper to give PC a 1-0 lead. On HC first shot Ben Pyle made a beautiful save to keep PC in the lead. The Lions failed to connect on their two shots while HC made their two shots to take a 2-1 lead. Senior Josh Seabrook brought the Lions even at 2-2 before HC scored another goal to take a 3-2 lead. When Piedmont's next shot sailed wide Huntingdon College had won the shootout to advance into the championship game tomorrow.
