Volleyball Team Caps Weekend Off With Victory Over Huntingdon 3-1

Netters Move To 6-1 In GSAC Action

Setter Tyler Baldonado notched a season-high and school record 55 assists in today's victory at Huntingdon College.
After sweeping a pair of matches yesterday the Piedmont College volleyball team traveled down I-85 and extended its winning streak to five matches with a 3-1 victory over Great South Athletic Conference host Huntingdon College this afternoon in Montgomery, AL. The Lions dropped game one 30-18, but rebounded to win the final three 30-28, 30-22, and 30-26 to secure their sixth conference victory of the year.

SARAH LANE and HEATHER STAFFORD led the way offensively for PC with 14 kills apiece. NIKKI COLE also chipped in with 12 kills while TYLER BALDONADO notched a season -54 assists, a new Piedmont record. Lane was also impressive on the defensive end with three solo blocks and service aces, both team highs. 

Libero JILL SPARGER led three players in double-figures with 16 digs while KALIN DEMARRAIS and JENNIFER GRANLUND added 13 and 12 digs respectively. The win moves PC to an impressive 6-2 when competing in matches that take more than three games.

Piedmont now stands at 16-5 overall and 6-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. Piedmont will return to action again on Tuesday, October 9th as they travel to defending GSAC champion Maryville College in Maryville, TN set to begin at 5:00.
