After scoring three goals in the first 30 minutes of the match, the Piedmont College men's soccer team was able to maintain the lead and overcome visiting south region foe Sewanee-University of the South this afternoon at Walker Field by the score of 3-2. Despite being outshot 10-3 PC was able to connect on all of their shots and secure the one-goal victory.
Jorge Pradilla recorded the first two goals for Piedmont at the 15th and 16th minutes on assists from Joey Kreiger and Chris Leone. Drew Griffin then notched the eventual game winner unassisted at the 30th minute. The Tigers found the back of the net just six minutes later and went into intermission down 3-1.
In the second half Sewanee was able to get within one goal at the 55th minute but were unable to find the equalizer during the remaining 35 minutes of the match. Goalkeeper Ben Pyle was up to the challenge after a violent collision in the first half as the sophomore notched eight saves including a pair of crucial saves down the stretch.
The win moves PC to 7-4 overall. The Lions will play host to Maryville College on Saturday, October 13th at Walker Field beginning at 4:00.
