On the final day of the Centre College Halloween Bash the Piedmont College volleyball team lost a hard-fought match at the hands of tournament host Centre College 3-2 but came back in the consolation final to defeat Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology by the score of 3-0. PC finishes the tournament an even 2-2 and in third-place out of the four teams.
PC dropped the match to Centre by the game scores of 26-30, 30-28, 28-30, 30-22, and 12-15.
ASHLEY CHIMA and
SARAH LANE led the squad with 15 and 14 kills respectively while
TYLER BALDONADO notched a season-high 58 assists.
JILL SPARGER again paced the defense with 24 digs while
KATIE TUCKER added an impressive 11 total blocks.
In the shutout victory over Rose-Hulman to claim third place, PC won 30-19, 34-32, and 30-25. Tucker again made her prescence felt at the net with a game-high 18 kills and six total blocks.
NIKKI COLE chipped in with 11 kills while Sparger and
JENNIFER GRANLUND added 14 digs apiece.
Piedmont concludes the regular season at 21-8 overall. PC will prepare for the upcoming Great South Athletic Conference tournament to be hosted by LaGrange College in LaGrange, GA on Friday, November 2nd with the time to be determined.
