Volleyball Team Defeats Spelman 3-0 In Home Finale

PC Finishes The Regular Season 6-1 At Johnny Mize Center

In convincing fashion the Piedmont College netters defeated visiting Great South Athletic Conference member Spelman College this afternoon at the Johnny Mize Center by the score of 3-0 completing the home schedule for 2007. Piedmont fnishes the season 6-1 at home outscoring their opponents 30-10, 30-20, and 30-12.

Prior to the start of the match Piedmont recognized SARAH LANE and JILL SPARGER for their four years of service to the volleyball program. Both players achieved career milestones this season surpassing 1,000 kills for Lane and 1,000 digs for Sparger joing an elite few players who put on PC jerseys.

KALIN DEMARRAIS continued her impressive freshman campaign leading the team with a game-high 14 kills while KATIE TUCKER and NIKKI COLE chipped in with nine kills apiece. The two seniors went out in style in front of the home crowd as Lane notched a team-high four service aces while Sparger added a squad-high 15 digs.

The victory moves PC to 20-6 overall and 8-2 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The Lady Lions will complete the season next weekend as they travel to Danville, KY to compete in the Centre College Halloween Bash beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, October 27th beginning at 1:00.
