For the first time in the 2007 season the Piedmont College men's soccer team shutout its opponent tonight at Walker Field as the Lions defeated visiting local rival Toccoa Falls College by the score of 3-0. The Lions recorded a pair of goals in the first half and tacked on an insurance goal in the second to secure the victory.
PC notched its first goal at the 12th minute as Drew Griffin powered the eventual game-winner into the back of the net on a rebound shot sent in by Jorge Pradilla who narrowly missed a goal hitting the post. The second goal was scored just three minutes later as Pradilla scored on a well-executed through ball from Jeron Bargen.
In the second half the Lions added an insurance goal at the 58th minute as Pradilla beat a pair of defenders and the goalkeeper after a pass from senior Josh Seabrook. Recently named Great South Athletic Conference Player of the Week Ben Pyle recorded his first shutout of the season with a pair of saves.
The victory pushes PC to 9-4 overall. The Lions will hit the road for a Great South Athletic Conference match against LaGrange College in LaGrange, GA on Thursday, October 28th beginning at 7:30.
