After allowing a goal in the first half and narrowly missing on a pair of opportunities the Piedmont College men's soccer team rallied in the second half notching three unanswered goals to roll past visiting Great South Athletic Conference member Maryville College at Walker Field by the score of 3-1. The Lions were outshot 8-6 but connected when it mattered most to secure the two-goal victory.
After MC scored the first goal at the 34th minute and held onto the lead into intermission. In the second half Jacob Brown scored his first goal of the season at the 50th minute on a rebound from a well-placed Jeron Bargen shot from outside the 18. Jeremy Stille notched the evental game-winning goal 24 minutes later on a header assist from Jorge Pradilla.
The duo hooked up again in the 86th minute, this time with Pradilla tallying the insurance goal and an assisted through ball from Stille. Between the posts Ben Pyle was impressive recording seven saves.
The victory moves PC to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in the Great South, good enough for a share of first place with Maryville. The Lions will return to action again on Tuesday, October 16th as they host local rival Toccoa Falls College at Walker Field beginning at 7:00.
