Piedmont Dominates Depleted Wesleyan 96-26

Having to play the final 16 minutes of the game with four players, Wesleyan College was no match for Piedmont College this afternoon as the Lady Lions rolled to a 96-26 Great South Athletic Conference victory. Despite playing four on four to finish the game Piedmont tallied points from 11 different players en route to the league victory.

The Lady Lions controlled the game from the beginning and went into the half with a comfortable 40-point lead. The women ended the game with their biggest margin of the day at 70 points. Wesleyan was held to a mere 21.7% from the field and lost the turnover margin 31-8.

Joanna Zipperer lead five Lady Lions in double figures with a season best 23 points including 7-10 from behind the tri-fecta. Lauren Armour earned 13 points and Stephanie Rainwater and Sheena Trimiar both added 12 poinst respectively.

The victory moves Piedmont to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the GSAC. The women will resume competition on Monday, January 9th as they will attempt to even the season series with Emory University in Atlanta, GA with game-time slated for 6:00.
