Lady Lions Complete Perfect Opening Weekend With 82-79 Overtime Victory

Forty minutes of regulation was not enough to decide the fourth and final game of the 3rd Annual Piedmont College Tip-Off Classic but the Lady Lions perserved in overtime to defeat Greensboro College 82-79. The Piedmont College women's basketball team was the only team to finish the weekend undefeated.

Freshman Kayla Duncan (pictured) led four Lady Lions in double-figures with a team-high 20 points. Freshman Beth Adcock added 17 points including 3-8 from behind the three-point line. Nikke Sosebee turned in an impressive double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds and Sarah Lane added 13 points and three assists.

After being tied at the end of regulation, Piedmont was able to outscore their opponents 7-4 as Sosebee scored the final four unanswered points. On the day, eight Lady Lions recorded points and the team shot 39.4 percent from the field.

For their efforts, Piedmont's Sosebee and Lane were voted to the All-Tournament team. Rounding out the post-tournament honors were Flagler's Sarah Mately and Caren Fiorillo and Greensboro's Serena Moore and Stacey Humphrey.

In the tournament's other game, Flagler College earned a tournament split with a 83-65 victory over Texas Lutheran University.

PC now stands at 2-0 and will return to action again on Tuesday, November 22nd as they travel to NCAA Division-II North Greenville College in Tigerville, SC with tip-off slated for 5:30.
