Lady Lions Open Season With 86-72 Rout Of Texas Lutheran University

The Piedmont College women's basketball team opened the 2005-2006 season with an 86-72 rout of Texas Lutheran University tonight in the first round of the 3rd Annual Piedmont College Tip-Off Classic. Four Lady Lions reached double-figures and ten players tallied points in the victory.

Sheena Trimiar and Sarah Lane tallied team-high totals of 17 points apiece. Freshman Kayla Duncan made her Piedmont debut with 15 points and four blocks. Also chipping in for the Lady Lions was Nikki Sosebee who earned 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

The victory marked the first career win for Head Coach Jamie Childs who enters her first season at the helm for PC. In front of a packed gym former head coach Charles Cooper was recognized with a moment of silence prior to the start of the game.

In the tournament's opening game, Greensboro College defeated Flagler College by the score of 77-70.

The Lady Lions move to 1-0 and will return to action again tomorrow, November 19th in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center as the Lions square-off against NCAA Division-III South Region opponent Greensboro College with tip-off slated for 4:00.
