The Johnny Mize Athletic Center opened in the spring of 2000 and serves as the hub of the Piedmont Athletic Department. The 4.4 million dollar facility is the home athletics venue for the men's and women's basketball programs as well as the volleyball program.
The facility, named after former Demorest resident and 1981 Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee Johnny Mize, includes locker rooms for the home and visiting programs, athletic training rooms with rehabilitation centers, a classroom, offices for the Piedmont athletics staff and the Johnny Mize Baseball Museum.
