Fall Season Preview: Men's Golf

By Joseph Garwood: Director of Athletic Communications

DEMOREST, Ga. - The last time we saw Piedmont Men's Golf, it was completing an epic final day comeback to capture the 2024 Collegiate Conference of the South Championship.

Coming off of that high note, the Lions will look to ride that momentum into the 2024 fall season, which gets underway this Saturday, August 31 with the Transylvania Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky.

2024 Fall Schedule

Although the Lions have not played in the Transylvania Invitation since the fall of 2020, they have enjoyed success at the event. In that 2020 edition, Matthew Leemann and Ben Balen shared individual medalist honors while the team cruised to the top spot to open a fall campaign that saw the team climb to the top of the Division III rankings.

In the 2019 edition, Leemann captured the individual crown, catapulting him to an All-American season.

This year, the Lions return both of their All-CCS performers from the 2023-24 season in junior Adam Rogers and sophomore Doug Gugel. Rogers earned CCS All-Tournament Team while Gugel finished his freshman season strong, taking solo second at the CCS Conference Tournament.
