Five 2025 Seniors Honored by Piedmont Athletics

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont University athletic department honored five seniors for outstanding athletic and academic performance during the 2024-25 academic year.

Women's tennis's Alyssa McSpadden and women's track and field's Allie Feltus earned co-top senior female athlete while baseball's Zeke Swartz took home top athlete honors on the men's side. 

Piedmont men's swimming was represented on the academic side as Erick Fortner earned top male scholar while women's soccer's Haylee Dornan took top female scholar.

A three-time conference champion including a two-time CCS conference champion, Alyssa McSpadden earned co-top female senior athlete honors.

McSpadden also leaves the women's tennis program as the career record holder in singles wins, doubles wins and combined wins.

In addition, she is a four-time All-Conference selection and a six-time CCS Player of the Week. In helping the Lions clinch the inaugural CCS Women's Tennis Championship in 2023, she earned CCS Tournament MVP honors.

Off the courts, she is a two-time CSC Academic All-District Team member and was named an ITA Scholar Athlete in 2023.

Feltus had an outstanding career as a thrower for Piedmont women's track and field. The Natchez, Mississippi native leaves Piedmont as a two-time team conference champion (2023 and 2025). As an individual, she was a conference champion in the discus in all four seasons of her career, including once in the USA South in 2022 and three times in the CCS from 2023-25.

A two-time USTFCCCA All-Region honoree, Feltus also leaves Piedmont as the program record holder in the discus. In 2022, she was named USA South Field Rookie of the Meet and in 2025, was named CCS Field Athlete of the Meet.

In the classroom, she was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team in 2023.

The 2025 CCS Pitcher of the Year, Swartz was a standout on the mound for Piedmont baseball throughout his career.

He started the final game of the 2023 CCS Tournament in which the Lions captured the title and earned CCS All-Tournament Team honors for his oustanding work.

In 2024, he earned All-Region honors from both D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings. Then, he was named a Preseason All-American in 2025 by D3baseball.com, and lived up to the billing by posting an ERA under 2.00 in 2025 and leading the CCS with 76 strikeouts in the regular season.

Finishing with the top GPA among graduating female student-athletes, Dornan was a four-year member of the Piedmont women's soccer team.

A three-time Academic All-Conference member, Dornan also stood out on the field, earning CCS Tournament MVP honors in 2022 as the Lions captured the inaugural CCS Tournament Title on their home field.

Finishing with the top GPA among graduating male student-athletes, Fortner was a four-year member of the Piedmont men's swimming program.

Earning a USA South All-Academic Team selection and three Independent South All-Academic nods, Fortner also added outstanding work in the pool as well.

He finished with back-to-back ISSC Independent South Swimming Team Titles and leaves Piedmont with four individual records (100, 200 breast & 100, 200 IM).

He also has earned CSC Academic All-District honors two times in his career.
