The PC basketball program and its generous supporters collected $750 in donations that will be donated to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative.
Demorest, GA -- In addition to picking up a thrilling overtime victory over arch rival Maryville College last night in front of a capacity crowd , the Piedmont College men's basketball team scored the most points with its Coaches vs. Cancer initiative. In front of a full house of over 1,250 people the Lions along with the generous fans and supporters raised over $750 which will be donated in full to the American Cancer Society.

Coaches vs. Cancer is a collaboration between the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer. Both the Piedmont and Maryville coaching staffs wore formal dress along with sneakers to symbolize the cause and to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Fans also participated by wearing pink to signify the American Cancer Society's fight against Breast Cancer. At halftime, a group photo was taken of everyone wearing pink and a framed copy will be sent in with the team's donation.

In the team's inaugural Coaches vs. Cancer initiative last season the team donated $500 to the ACS with this year's total bringing the two-year total donation to $1,250.

“The men's basketball team was really proud of how so many branches of our campus community embraced the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative. It was great to see so many people turn out to support such a great cause,” stated seventh-year head coach Lee Glenn.
