Norman, OK -- Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars for NCAA Division-III have been announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America with Piedmont College's Clifton Barton being named to the 41-person team. The honor marks only the second All-American Scholar in the NCAA history of the men's golf program.

PC's Andy Cartwright earned the prestigious academic honor in the 2007 season.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 79.0 in Division-III and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Barton led the PC golf team with a school record stroke average of 74.5 strokes and was the team's top finisher in all but one event. He earned medalist honors at the Georgia Mountain Trophy in the fall.  On the year the junior earned an impressive eight top-five finishes in 10 tournament starts.
