In the opening games of the 2009 season the Piedmont College softball team fell to NAIA host Reinhardt College in Waleska, GA by the scores of 9-3 and 2-1. The Eagles offense posted 20 hits in the doubleheader while holding the Lady Lions to just eight.
In game one Piedmont jumped out with two runs in the top of the first inning as
KELLIE EDMONDSON hit a solo homerun in her first collegiate at-bat. The women would add a single run in the second before the home team answered with five runs to take the lead for good. The Eagles tacked on four runs over the next three innings to seal the victory.
In the nightcap both teams were held scoreless for the first four innings. RC notched the eventual game winning two runs in the home half of the fifth. The Lady Lions rally fell just short in the top of the seventh as Edmondson struck again with her second RBI of the day.
B.J. COFER took the hard luck loss in game two going the distance allowing two earned runs while scattering eight hits. Offensively Edmondson led the way going 3-5 with two RBI's and a run scored.
EMILY CHEEK and
