Jamie Jimison completed his sixth year at the helm as Director of Cross Country and Track & Field in the spring of 2025. Jimison arrived at Piedmont with over 15 years of coaching experience and spent the previous nine seasons in Iowa with NAIA Mount Mercy University.

Jimison helped establish Piedmont as one of the most dominant programs within the CCS claiming three straight CCS Men's Track & Field titles, a pair of Women's Track & Field championships and the 2023 Men's Cross Country title. He also helped lead Silas Goolsby to a second team All-American finish at the NCAA Division III Men's Track and Field Championship in the 200m in 2025.

The 2022-23 season saw Jimison continue to help multiple Lions to unprecedented success while also bringing the team to new heights as well. Jaycie Ponce had a record-breaking season, helping women's cross country to become the first ever Collegiate Conference of the South champions while Ponce herself was the first individual champion. She parlayed that success into an NCAA Nationals appearance in the snow in Michigan. The success continued into the spring as the Lions men's and women's track and field programs swept the inaugural CCS Championships, giving Jimison his second sweep in three years in two different conferences.

Jimison helped guide Anthony Jordan to a historic season in the long jump in 2022. Jordan delivered a third-place finish in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships becoming Piedmont's first All-American with a podiium finish. Jordan also brought home South Region Field Athlete of the Year from the USTFCCCA.

For the women's program, Allie Feltus earned USA South Field Rookie of the Meet honors for her performance at the USA South Championship. She also earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors as a freshman.

Jimison led the Piedmont men's and women's track and field programs to another successful campaign in 2021, culminating with USA South Championships for both squads. The two teams had a combined 32 athletes named All-Conference for their performance at the USA South conference meet. Jimison also led the Lions to an outstanding indoor season, with 13 named USTFCCCA All-Region. On the outdoor slate, he helped Alvin Jacobs and Madison Cassidy earn All-Region honors with Jacobs qualifying for NCAA Nationals in the 800m.

The Lions and Lady Lions cross country teams totaled 13 all-conference honorees under Jimison in 2019 with the men's team earning a tie for second at the USA South Cross Country Championships while the women's team placed third.

The men's team also compiled their best NCAA Regional finish in program history to close out the season.

Analee Bradach became the first female in program history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors and was Co-Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Coach Jimison saw much success during his tenure with Mount Mercy as he coached 23 NAIA track & field All-Americans including two national champions and 68 individual championship qualifiers. His athletes have maintained success in the classroom as well, garnering 37 NAIA track & field scholar athlete selections and 16 scholar teams.

Prior to his stint in Cedar Rapids, Jimison served as the head coach of the men's and women's track & field and cross country programs at Union College. Jimison presided over and grew the newly reinstated program that had been inactive more than 10 years.

In four seasons with the Bulldogs, Jimison coached 10 NAIA All-Americans including one national champion, five NAIA scholar athletes, 41 individual NAIA championship qualifiers and two top-20 NAIA team finishes in the NAIA championships.

In 2009, he was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Coach of the Year after leading his team to the conference championship.

Jimison brought familiarity of the USA South Athletic Conference with him as he coached and ran for Berea College. Jimison spent one season as an assistant coach and led three athletes to the NAIA championships.

A four-year member of the Mountaineers' squad, Jimison was a three-time NAIA national qualifier in cross country and qualified for the NAIA track & field championships in the steeplechase.
